Jennifer Tipton, MSW
Registered Clinical Social Work Intern (RCSWI)
My path to becoming a therapist wasn't a straight line—and I'm grateful for that.
After retiring from an executive leadership position at the end of my corporate career, I found myself reflecting on what I still had to offer. I thought about the work that had been most meaningful to me, the values that guided my life, and the times I’ve felt most connected to other people.
A long-held dream of becoming a therapist quietly resurfaced, and this time, I decided to pursue it.
Looking back, I can see that every chapter of my life prepared me for this work. Years spent leading teams under pressure, navigating conflict, supporting people through change, and listening during difficult moments taught me that everyone carries a story. And I wasn’t always the best at understanding that then, but experience changes people. Success, achievement, and outward confidence don't protect us from loss, trauma, anxiety, self-doubt, or longing. Those experiences gave me a deep appreciation for the complexity of being human—an understanding that now complements my clinical training.
I completed a trauma-informed, clinically focused graduate program and deepened my experience through internships in both a community mental health agency and a rural private practice. Those experiences confirmed what had drawn me to this profession in the first place: meaningful change happens when people feel understood, respected, and supported.
After graduation, I joined a large multi-state group practice before founding Connected Therapy. I aimed to create a practice centered on thoughtful, individualized care where adults throughout Florida could access evidence-based therapy through the convenience of telehealth. Operating as a private-pay practice allows me to focus on your unique goals and needs rather than the constraints that can accompany insurance-driven treatment.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that healing happens through connection—to ourselves, to others, and to new ways of understanding our experiences. I integrate EMDR, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), strengths-based person-centered therapy, and somatic approaches to help clients process trauma, heal attachment wounds, reduce anxiety, and create lasting emotional and behavioral change. I am EMDRIA-trained in EMDR therapy.
One of the greatest privileges of this work is witnessing clients begin to see themselves differently. There is a moment in therapy when someone realizes they are no longer constrained by what happened to them, and new possibilities begin to emerge. Being able to help with that transformation as it unfolds is something I am grateful for every day.
Healing isn't always easy. But it is possible. And it’s worth it.
